I've been here twice to get coffee. The first time it took 10 minutes to make a simple latte and somehow it and the other drink arrived not very warm. The second time I went in the afternoon for a coffee and it was room temperature. Also, both times the creamer was out and had to ask to have it replenished. Further, unless they've changed recently, there is no wifi. Wifi is pretty standard at every coffee place in town. Prices are competitive/high and parking is usually plentiful. Probably good for a meal but don't go expecting your new favorite coffee house.

The pear pizza is delicious. Salads are great and so is the tomato soup. The folks who work there are always friendly. I like to work there some afternoons because it's quiet after the lunch crowd leaves and they have free WiFi.

The pizza is incredible, but the one critique I have is that the toppings are a little overloaded, and it's hard to eat with your hands until you're halfway through the slice. The bean salad is an awesome side, and the entree salad choices are interesting and delicious! Highly recommended!

A great find in the West Lafayette region! If you ever find yourself near Purdue, Cafe Literato is a great place to find your brunch and dinner choices in a hipster setting. Whether you're there by yourself or hanging out with friends, there are plenty of space to lounge around with lots of natural light and comfy seats. On this particular occasion, we got the breakfast pizza and the red pepper feta panini. (This is our first time dining here for brunch). An absolute must: the breakfast pizza. Its thin crust is topped with bacon, eggs, cheese, and fresh spinach. Eating it piping hot straight out of the oven is a must! It's crust is crispy from the brick oven and the cheese is melted - yummy. As for the red pepper feta panini, I only wished it was half as good as the pizza. The panini was filled with red peppers and feta cheese (of course), along with arugula and eggs. My complaint was that there were too little feta and red pepper (since it was named the red pepper and feta panini) and too much arugula. Although I love arugula (put it anywhere in a salad or sandwich), too much of it will overwhelm the sandwich as it has such a strong flavor. My suggestion: get the ham and cheese panini instead. Although it can get a bit greasy, my past experience with that particular panini had left me wanting more. Overall, love love love Cafe Literato. It's a great place to spend the afternoon reading and/or to hang out with friends. Its hipster ambiance has me reminiscing those LA coffee shops that I visit back home. If you visit during spring and fall, sit out on the patio! It's cozy indoors as well if you fancy your cup of joe next to the window on a cold, dark winter afternoon.

I was very excited to try this place - all of the photos everyone posts on Yelp look great. My hubby and I went here for dinner. I got the grilled cheese and a caesar salad, he got the margherita pizza and a bottled root beer. The salad was huge and had shaved parmesan cheese on it, which is something I love way more than the crumbly cheese, mainly because it's easier to devour. The grilled cheese was good but could have used an additive, like basil leaves, tomatoes, cucumbers, or pesto or aioli dip. I do really appreciate that it was not slathered in butter. It reminded me of my own grilled cheeses, which I bake in the oven without using butter. Came with a side, I chose the fruit cup. My husband was disappointed in his pizza. He rated it 2 stars. There were no full slices of tomatoes or basil leaves on it, which is characteristic of that type of pizza. After the meal I ordered a 3 Kings latte and I am very pleased that I did. It was delicious and wasn't a sugar bomb (or at least it didn't taste like one). This place reminded me a bit of Panera, but in a good way. You walk up to the counter and order and then they prep the food while you choose your own table. The inside is very nice - comfy but modern decor. We were a bit worried that we wouldn't hear them call our name, but they actually have a speaker system so that you can hear it anywhere in the restaurant. The menu is similar in aspects to Panera - a lot of sandwiches and it seems to be on the health-conscious side. There are also many pizza options. I wish we would have went earlier, I would have tried more caffeinated drinks. It is part of the Faith West community center, so I imagine at least some of their profits go towards that community. We will definitely be back for some breakfast drinks and possibly some food.

Keywords: AFFORDABLE, DELICIOUS, A HIPSTER JEWEL. A diamond in the rough when it comes to good pizza in West Lafayette. Hidden away (kind of), Cafe Literato is my go-to restaurant when I'm visiting home and too lazy and to hungry to make myself food. Their pizzas are probably the closest to the likes of places like Dock Street (in Philadelphia) that I've seen in the Midwest, so I'm surprised that they showed up in this affordable establishment. Their fig and pear pizza, with fig, pear, arugula, ricotta, etc. is AMAZING, as is their galini pizza. If you're not a pizza lover, their brick oven pork sandwhich, with pulled pork, Boursin cheese, and garlic aioli on an Italian Batard, is drool-worthy. A little salty, really savory, and with a real nice crunch from the bread. Mmmm. The inside of the restaurant hits a great balance between family-friendly and hipster chic. This is a place clearly to be enjoyed by the masses, but with enough know-how to appeal to the more refined/hipster amongst us.

If you ever find yourself in the region or the 765 mosy on over to Cafe Literato. I only discovered this place my last semester at Purdue which saddens me because they have the best of both worlds : good food and great coffee. On a recent visit up to the good old alma mater I had lunch with a friend who is a vegetarian which worked out well considering they cater to those with food restrictions including meat and gluten. The margherita pizza was pretty to look at it and tasted even better. It has a crispy exterior without a burnt crust. The espresso options are endless and the environment lends itself to a very casual cool laid back establishment where you could catch up with a friend or spend the afternoon cramming for a chemistry test. Free wifi and college town prices make this place a true gem in the West Lafayette area. p.s. order a cappuccino!

I haven't yet figured out if this place is attached to a hotel or what, but over all this is a great bistro-type cafe shop that I can have a nice, restaurant style, fancy ish sandwich (so to speak) and some hand crafted espresso drinks. It's closer to my apartment than GreyHouse so I might come here more often. Food wise it isn't too expensive. I had the Italian Grinder and it was delicious, although I had to pick out all the Capicola, just can't tolerate the taste of it.. (Also is it cooked or just raw salted meat? Because that's exactly how it tastes like). Boyfriend had the Ham and Cheese Panini and man that was on of the best grilled cheese I've ever tried, no joke. I haven't tried their cappuccino but will be back for it, also will update my review then. Staff members are all nice and very helpful. Recommended.

This is definitely a hidden gem like Zach said. The food is good and reasonably priced ($8-$9 for a pizza). It's also colorfully furnished with both indoor and outdoor seating. My only con is my smoothie was made entirely of juice and no real fruit (still was tasty). Solid eats.

Great atmosphere for a coffee by yourself, for a snack with your friends, for a light meal with your family. Comfy furniture and lots of natural light. Very cozy with friendly and helpful staff. Free wifi. The food is simply simple with no burden of artificial elements. I just had the breakfast pizza and was impressed by the freshness and refreshingness of it! My BF had the egg bowel, which was also impressively simple and yummy with sausage and eggs scrambled together. Coffee was good too. Cappuccino was okay.

Love Cafe Literato! A great addition to the West Lafayette lunch scene. I prefer to go classic here, and think their Margherita pizza is top notch. Great mozzarella, fresh basil, but I think the key to doing this pizza very well is their tomato puree. Slightly sweet, but not too much by any means, and always tastes fresh, like they might use San Marzano tomatoes to create it. I also think their Pear, Fig and Arugula pizza is out of this world. If you have time, try the cappuccinos. Great espresso is used, and always keeps me going through the afternoon. This is a regular in the rotation!

Went for lunch. I had a salad and the other two in my party had pizza. Atmosphere was great. Service was good. Food was fresh. A solid 4 stars. I am not giving it a five only because the food was good, but pretty standard fare. Fresh though.

LOVE cafe literato.. And now they have cold brew on tap! I'm from Los Angeles and have been exposed to various types of cafes. Whenever I'm back home I crave the food along with the price. My recommendation is the Italian pot roast sandwich or the chili lime chicken salad. Way cheaper than panera, and their food isn't all microwaved(like panera).

EXCELLENT pizza! I had the Meditarrano and the ingredients were fresh and very tasty. Seating was fantastic, as this place is LARGE and offers variety for families. The only downside is the price, which was hefty- about 8 dollars for a 10 inch personal pizza.

I'm glad we discovered this place before it was time to move! A really nice find; near campus. I've had their rustic ham & cheese panini, brick oven pork sandwich, smoked bbq pork & corn pizza, fig and pear pizza and the mediterrano pizza on various occasions. All highly recommended! I've always enjoyed their soups as well. Prices are really reasonable and I've heard their coffee is nice too. I was intrigued by the fact that this is attached to a church community center, but if that concerns you, don't worry, there's no real indication of the church in the restaurant.

I am not sure if this is a coffee house or a church coffee room. It seems like it is trying to escape from "church room" feel and don't get me wrong they try their best. I have to say that their coffee is average but at least the barista there was super nice.

The food is pretty good, but they don't know how to make a cappuccino or a latte. If I could rate them desperately, it'd be 2 stars for coffee-- but 4 for food. The food options are creative & there are good options for kids. Cafe Literato also has a nice ambience and lots of good seating options.

Have eaten lunch here twice, it's bland. My wife describes it as a "bland Panera" which fits (we are not big fans of Panera). Cool atmosphere, but just doesn't cut it as a distinctive place to eat. Tomato soup seemed like tomato purée heated up, as described by our out of town associate. Sandwiches and pizza sound good in the descriptions, but fall flat. Food for the masses, and bland.

Great Cafe. Driven by it several times but didn't realize it was a normal restaurant. I thought it was only for Faith West. Food was excellent, very unique offerings. Wait to get food is faster than a regular restaurant but a little longer than a fast food joint. I had the ham and cheese panini and it was very good.

This is an odd little place... But it's good. The sandwiches and salads are very tasty... The pizza is good but if you have time there are better places to get a pie. Atmosphere is coffee shop casual. The people working there are friendly and food is ready quickly. I dig this place. Great for a quick afternoon lunch and chill.

I have to say I was pretty impressed with this place. It's cozy and 'coffee' shop like but nice enough for a dinner really. It has the same order, sit, pick up order framework as Panera. It's much better than Panera though. The pizzas are really good (and fresh, which is a large part of good) with interesting topping choices without being too freaky. The tomato soup was great, I also got a latte which was good. I ordered a side of fruit thinking I'd get one of those 3 oz ramikans of fruit and instead got a serious soup bowl of fruit, which is exactly what I want for how much those fruit bowls cost! Overall, I like this place! I need to go back for breakfast and a morning coffee sometime. It's walking distance from my house and there is a community playground behind so I have a feeling I'm going to be their #1 weekend coffee offender. P.s. (not really applicable to this review) This place is also interesting since it's attached to a church community center. I don't think I've ever seen this concept done before but I like it.

Great new find near campus. My husband ordered a sandwich and it was just average, nothing compared to my pizza which was amazing (I cannot find it in the menu, it had a funny name, wonder if they changed the menu in just a couple of weeks?). Either way, If you are going to come here, do it for the pizzas and the atmosphere: very cozy and relaxed. I also ordered a strawberry smoothie, a bit sweet but good. A plus: prices were fair enough.

I was pleasantly surprised by my visit to Cafe Literato. When I heard about a cafe in a church, I expected it to be little more than a counter off the churches' lobby. I was also a little bit weary of visiting a church that I don't belong to (and don't have interest in joining). But after a nice lunch, I'm sure I will return. The concept is kind of a trendy Panera. Actually, it reminded me more of the chain Cosi, which I have enjoyed in Chicago and other cities. The menu focuses on Sandwiches, Salads, and Pizzas. They also have coffee, lattes, and other hot and cold drinks. You order at the register, and pick up when its ready at a long counter open to the kitchen. The staff was helpful and friendly- recommending items and clearing our plates when we were done (since it was a slow time of day). I ordered the "Pressed Ponto" sandwich, which was a panini with grilled zucchini, eggplant, pickled beets, feta, and garlic aioli. It was really really delicious. Great, colorful veggies and flavorful sauce. Like, so good, I'm going to try to re-create it at home because am craving it again. There were lots of other great sounding menu items but I would be hard pressed to order something else next time. It came with a choice of side- I had a nice broccoli salad. Good portions and well executed. The atmosphere was really great. Lots of natural light, and very well decorated. I'm told that the Christo's family (who also own Red Seven) run this restaurant, and the decor, while more casual, is similar to Red Seven. Very tastefully modern with lots of textures. I can definitely see myself hanging out here- especially since there is plentiful seating- the cafe extends into a common area that even has little private meeting rooms- would be great for study groups or work outings. Although it is attached to the church, there was really no indication of the church in the restaurant (aka they won't try to save you just because you're eating there). Really glad to have this new place near campus!

I hear it's owned by the same people who own Christo's, but I liked this place much better! It's sandwiches, salads, and pizzas here, and it was really hard to decide what to get. I went with the caprese chicken sandwich with a side of mac & cheese. Both were delicious, though I think the sandwich would be better without the chicken. Other people in my group ordered pizza, and that looked really tasty, too. Nice atmosphere, too.

The staff was friendly, and the food was really well made with quality ingredients. The decor is really neat so it has a good ambiance. I'll definitely be going back here for the food. My only complaint is they don't offer soy milk for their lattes. The only non-dairy option they have is vanilla almond milk which is so gross mixed with coffee. I really hope they consider getting soy milk.

This is a pleasant, quiet place to work. Seating is more reminiscent of a restaurant than a coffee shop and outlets are VERY limited. You'll likely need to have fully charged batteries if you intend to stay awhile. Restrooms are outside the cafe proper but are very clean and modern. The menu is far more extensive than most coffee shops. Breads and cakes which are the hallmark of coffee shops are very limited and were not out yet by 9am when I visited. You won't get hand crafted drinks made by a skilled barista here. You'll get the mechanized output of LavAzza. I opted for drip coffee, which was decent, but not deep or complex. Internet was a decent speed and you had to ask for the password.

Before Café Literato we had only one choice for Brick Oven pizza, not anymore. We loved the pizza at Literato, The service here was very good, polite and very friendly, no one asked us to hurry up because they needed the table, which is what happened to us at the old brick oven pizza place. The pizza was quick, and hot. The crust was delicious and toppings very fresh. Not like the other place at all. There is no comparison if you want brick oven pizza, go to Café Literato, don't waste your time anywhere else. You won't be disappointed.

Really good salads, pizzas and sandwiches. The atmosphere is super cute and the staff was friendly. We were pleasantly surprised. Cafe Literato was able to please a gluten free vegan and a persnickety meat eater.

Well-crafted sandwiches, salads, and pizza. I've never had an item that I didn't like, and this place stands out amongst the slough of underwhelming eateries in the lafayette area. The interior is great, with an assortment of tables, high tops, benches, and lounge chairs, and decorations that are highly contemporary and lend to literato's theme of sophisticated familiarity. Favorite items include the literato club and Greek salad. My favorite lunch place in west lafayette.

This is a welcome addition to West Lafayette. Fantastic ambience. Great food and coffee. Their pressed ponto sandwich is delicious. I've always enjoyed their soups as well. The service is prompt and the staff are friendly.

Awesome new place!! Really cool decor, unlike anywhere else in town and top notch food. Had the fig and pear pizza... it was unexpectedly delicious! Also had Ghirardelli hot chocolate... yum! Will come again!!

Unexpectedly large inside - spacious. Hip decor. Had the tuna salad sandwich - excellent! Not too mayonnaise-y, good tuna flavor. And the bread is delightful. Crusty, crunchy and light in the center. Add potato salad, and I had all I could eat. I'll come back soon.
